Planning for the future of Harborlight Montessori is vital to ensuring our continued success as a model Montessori school and teacher education institution. Our strategic planning is supported by the pillars of our Montessori work, which created three key initiatives: Montessori Excellence Across the Programs, Inspired Community Engagement, the Prepared Environment for Teaching and Learning. These key initiatives are embedded within the core elements of any strategic planning: faithfulness to mission, academic excellence and organizational viability. Within each initiative, two connecting components have been integrated: financial and environmental sustainability, and the use of technology and media.
Providing a consistent and excellent Montessori experience across the ages is central to our core mission to enable our students to become thoughtful, creative, socially responsible and constructive adults. We aim to enhance our curriculum and programmatic offerings to support not only the development of the students, but also the continuous improvement of the faculty and staff. We believe in the Montessori Method as sound, research-based methodology for creating the foundation necessary for our graduates to thrive at the next level of learning, and recognize the value in the process of evaluating what skills are essential to a 21st century classroom. To this end, we are evaluating what we are currently doing well, measuring what we would like to be doing better, and striving to model the advanced Montessori Method in the greater community.
Harborlight views Montessori as more than just a curriculum or instructional method- it is a way of life. We strive to foster knowledge and experience in a consistent manner that allows members of our learning community to become actively engaged and to pursue lifelong learning and living with a balance of play, passion and purpose.
