Welcome to Harborlight Montessori
As I begin my tenure as Head of School, I am so excited to share the Harborlight Montessori experience with families on the North Shore. During my visits to Harborlight, I was struck by the students I met who presented as independent, curious, compassionate problem-solvers and the dedicated Montessori-trained faculty that created the conditions for such students to develop and thrive.
The power of the Harborlight Montessori approach lies in its fundamental belief in the child. It makes me think of something Maria Montessori once said: “In the child is much knowledge, much wisdom. If we do not profit from it, it is only because of neglect on our part to become humble and to see the wonder of this soul and learn what the child can teach.” Our teachers understand the wisdom that lies within children and are experts at creating joyful learning environments that help nurture and bring out that wisdom. Harborlight classrooms are hands-on and experiential learning environments where students develop self-confidence, independence, curiosity and personal responsibility. That kind of powerful learning can only occur in a climate of belonging. It is very important to me that every child and family at Harborlight feels seen and known, able to bring their full, authentic selves to school each and every day.
