Elementary Summer Program

Entering 1st - 8th Grade

Summer 2025 is open to the Community & Pre-Summer 2025 is also available!

Program hours are 8:30 am – 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday with Extended day options from 7:30-5:30.


Registration for the summer is limited.

Schedules


  • Half-Day 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m
  • Academic-Day 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
  • Early Arrival 7:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m.
  • Extended Day 3:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Tuition is due upon registration confirmation and there are no refunds after May 1st.

  • THEATRE WORKSHOP: 6/16-27 THIS IS A 2-WEEK SESSION

    June 16-20 (19 off) & June 23-27
    Lower Elementary (Grades 1-3)
    During this two-week program, students become fully immersed in the world of theater arts! Through engaging in theatrical activities, children acquire valuable, transferable skills such as public speaking, teamwork, memorization, the ability to receive constructive feedback, and character development, among others.  Activities such as warm-ups and theater games, make way for auditions and script readings in the first few days. The cast and crew pull it all together: develop characters, memorize, and recite lines, coordinate to rehearse scenes, create sets, props and costumes! Curtains up for the final performance for friends and families! (on campus, time TBD)

  • COASTAL CREATURES & SEASIDE ECOSYSTEMS: 6/16-6/20

    Lower Elementary (Grades 1-3)

    “The ocean stirs the heart, inspires the imagination, and brings eternal joy to the soul.” – Robert Wyland
     
    In this ocean-themed class, students visit local beaches to learn about the diverse ecosystems of the ocean. Discover the unique creatures that live in the ocean, like crabs, sea stars, and so many mollusks! Understand their important roles in the environment. Dive into the science of tides, waves, and currents, learning why the water moves the way it does and how the moon affects the ocean. Explore the importance of ocean conservation and understand how humans impact the sea and what we can do to protect it. At the end of the week, students present their work and appreciation for the ocean and its vital role in our planet’s health.

  • Books & Authors: 6/23-27

    Lower Elementary: (Grades 1-3)  
    Dive into the world of books and authors- explore a wide variety of voices, topics, and genres. Read five carefully selected books, representing a unique perspectives and themes. Engage in a variety of activities related to the books including, simple recipes, crafts, and projects that connect to the themes and characters. Experiment with different materials and techniques to create your own personalized book to take home at the end of the week.

    This immersive experience lets students dive into Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math through a variety of fun, interactive projects. From designing birdhouses for our outdoor classroom to coding games and stories, students explore their creativity while solving real-world challenges. They'll engage in critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork, all while enjoying the great outdoors and plenty of sunshine! It’s a perfect blend of learning and play that sparks curiosity and inspires innovation.

    Get ready to unleash your creativity in this exciting and hands-on art session! Each day, students dive into a variety of fun art projects, exploring everything from painting and drawing to crafting and sculpture. With each new activity, kids will learn cool techniques, experiment with colors, shapes, and textures, and create their very own masterpieces. Along the way, they'll discover the works of famous artists and find inspiration for their own artistic journey. Perfect for young artists looking to have fun and build their skills!

    Secrets, Ciphers, and Sleuthing
    Calling all future spies! In this action-packed session, students sharpen their detective skills and learn to spot details that others miss. Using all five senses, they'll take on exciting challenges, solve mysteries, and unlock secrets. From analyzing fingerprints and cracking simple ciphers to experimenting with invisible ink, each mission will push their problem-solving skills to the limit. Teamwork is key as they work together to crack codes and complete their spy assignments!

    Summer on the North Shore
    Explore the best of summer on the North Shore! Each morning is packed with exciting adventures: beach trips, visits to local parks and museums, mixed with summer activities like mini-golf, bowling, and the annual quest to find the best ice cream around. Over 10 action-packed days, students will experience the vibrant charm of our towns. In the afternoons, they explore in Harborlight’s Art Studio, experiment with different media, and work together to create a special art project to showcase at the school. The perfect mix of outdoor fun and artistic expression!

  • Film Academy: 6/16-6/20

    June 16-20 (19th is closed)
    Upper School (Grades 4-8)
    Bring creativity to life in a fun, collaborative and exciting environment. Learn skills in script writing, storyboard sketching, improvisation, and camera skills. This class is for both beginners and advanced students. Together you will write, shoot, and edit a film in a genre of your choosing and edit the project together using the professional editing software Adobe Premiere.
     
    The film will be viewed for invited guests at the end of the week.

  • History of US National Parks: 6/16-6/20

    June 16-20 (19th is closed)
    Upper School (Grades 4-8)

    Learn the history of National Parks in our country–and visit a few local historical sites. Possible locations are Salem, Lowell, Concord, Saugus, and Boston. Enjoy virtual tours for those parks too far away to visit in person.

  • Printmaking: 6/23-6/27 

    June 23-27 
    Upper School (Grades 4-8)
    Printmaking is the artistic process of transferring an image onto another surface. Learn the history of printmaking and take part in various art projects inspired by the world around us. Explore everything from traditional relief cut printing to modern screen-printing techniques for t-shirt designs.  Visit the MFA to learn more about artwork by master printmakers. The week concludes with an art reception where families are invited to view and celebrate the students' artwork.

  • DUNGEONS & DRAGONS/MAGIC THE GATHERING: 6/23-6/27 

    June 23-27
    Upper School (Grades 4-8)
    Inviting all players - from novice to expert! Learn the basics of D&D and MTG. The day is split between the two activities. Learn how to roll characters, go on adventures, and defeat foes in the fantasy world of D&D. In MTG, they will learn to build decks, take care of their cards, and play a draft tournament. These games scaffold collaborative and social engagement while creatively tapping into student expressions of teamwork, bravery, compassion, negotiation, gamer etiquette, and critical thinking, all while developing statistics, predictability, and mapping skills.

    Over two weeks, students enjoy daily trips to some of the best local destinations, including Salem Willows, Lynch Park, and Canobie Lake Park. From scenic beaches to thrilling amusement parks, there’s something for everyone. Explore the charming beach towns of Gloucester and Rockport—enjoying ice cream, relaxing by the shore, and discovering unique local shops. Pack your sunscreen and get ready for an unforgettable adventure with friends!

    Dive into a summer of watery wonders! In this action-packed, water-themed session, we'll explore oceans, rivers, and ponds, getting hands-on with the natural world. From vibrant marine life to tidal rhythms, kids will get wet while discovering the science behind it all.
    Trips include must-see spots like the New England Aquarium, Boston Harbor Islands, and an exciting whale-watching adventure in Gloucester. Along the way, we’ll encounter fascinating animals, study unique plants, and learn about aquatic ecosystems. Ready to make a splash? This one is all about exploring the world beneath the waves.
