About Us

Community

Over the course 50+ years, Harborlight has grown a great deal, what remains, however, is its sense of community. Quite often when a family comes to visit or tour campus they remark on how it feels like home.

Vision

To be the model school where skilled faculty combines Montessori pedagogy with innovative practices.
We are a Montessori school serving children from infancy through 8th grade, dedicated to fostering independence, self-confidence, and a deep understanding of the world. Our highly skilled teachers cultivate a respectful, supportive, and peaceful environment that nurtures each student’s natural curiosity and enthusiasm for learning. Here, students are encouraged to embrace their individuality and reach their educational, social, and emotional potential. Our vibrant community includes dedicated faculty, engaged families, and enthusiastic students, all working together.

Faculty and Staff

With more than 75 full and/or part-time staff, adjunct faculty and interns from a wide variety of backgrounds and specialties, one of Harborlight’s strengths is definitely represented in its team. Each of Harborlight’s classrooms has at least one, and quite often two or three, Montessori credentialed staff. Harborlight is also home to Montessori Institute – New England and often the adult learners will complete internships on site. Likewise, Harborlight is often fortunate to welcome interns from Endicott College each year.

Board of Trustees

The relationship between a Board of Trustees and an independent school is vital. The Board supports the Harborlight Montessori mission and acts strategically to protect the long-term best interests of the school and its students.

Family Handbook

  • Family Handbook Click Here to Download

This Family Handbook contains information that all families need to know. It is essential for every family to take the time to become familiar with the contents of this handbook and the information available on the Harborlight Montessori websites well.

This handbook is a living document and sections will be edited and updated as needed. Families will be informed of any policy changes.

The date of this Handbook revision is June 2024.

Family Association

The association that coordinates communications, events, and relationships between home and school in any independent school provides an essential service to the school leadership and the school community. Every parent is a member of the Harborlight Family Association (HFA).

HFA organizes family-friendly events, supports the School events calendar, provides classroom level support for students and parents, welcomes new families, and informs parents about the School’s unique philosophy and programs. Volunteerism is an integral part of building a successful school community and we welcome you to become involved in a variety of ways.

Alumni

Our graduates possess intellectual capacity, self-knowledge, and good character to be difference-makers in our ever-changing world. The student journey begins with a toddler’s first experience with independence and ends with an Upper School student who has fully engaged in the education process, is inquisitive, responsible, and compassionate. Harborlight alumni know themselves and are ready to engage the world.
