  • Infant Toddler Director

    Reports to: The Head of School
    Hours: Full-Time, Exempt
     
    Description: Harborlight Montessori is seeking a compassionate, organized, and joyful leader to serve as our Infant Toddler Director. We are looking for a skilled communicator with adults and children, someone who approaches their work with empathy, flexibility, and professionalism. As a dedicated Montessorian, you bring a developmental lens to your interactions with children and a commitment to best practices in diversity, equity, and belonging. Our Infant Toddler program, housed in a beautifully designed building tailored to Montessori principles, has earned an outstanding reputation on the North Shore. Supported by a passionate and dedicated faculty, this is a unique opportunity to lead a thriving program and inspire a community of learners.

The Infant Toddler program currently enrolls 43 students and a staff of 16.

    Physical and Work Environment Requirements:
    • May work at a desk and computer for extended periods of time.
    • Be able to occasionally lift up to 30lbs. 
    • Work/supervise outside in a variety of weather conditions.
    • Work in a dynamic environment that can often have daily changes/challenges.
    Key Responsibilities:
    • School Leadership:
      • Is a member of the School’s Leadership team and attends weekly leadership team meetings 
      • Creates a culture of equity and belonging for IT teachers, students and families.
      • Works with DOE to ensure that all EEC regulations are followed.
      • Prepares, reads, and edits reports for Parent Conferences three times per year.
    • Faculty support and supervision:
      • Provides leadership to faculty in their work with children, parents, and colleagues.
      • Supervises and evaluates the Infant Toddler teachers
      • Conducts weekly meetings with the IT Faculty and keeps written agendas and minutes
      • Participates in on-going professional development; i.e. educational courses, workshops, seminars, etc., and oversees professional development for the IT teachers.
      • Maintains the supplies for the IT program.
      • Creates staff schedules.
      • Assists in the classroom or with coverage when needed.
    • Community/Family Support:
      • Responsible for weekly parent communication, participates in parent meetings/communication as needed, and runs parent orientation and education workshops.
      • Attends all school major functions.
    • Student Support:
      • Supports teachers in addressing/nurturing each student’s physical, emotional, cognitive and social development.
      • Supports the communication and scheduling of early interventionists in their work with children at Harborlight. 
      • Receives and welcomes children.
    • Curriculum:
      • Continuously reviews and documents the scope and sequence of the curriculum in line with the Montessori Philosophy and mission of the school.
    • Admissions/Enrollment:
      • Partners with the Director of Admissions in the admission process.
    • Hiring:
      • Partners with the Head of School in the hiring of new teachers.
  • School Counselor

    Hours: Fulltime (10 months)
    Exempt/Non-Exempt: Exempt
    Reports to: Head of School

    Harborlight Montessori is seeking a thoughtful, compassionate school counselor for the school year 2025-26. We are looking for a skilled communicator with adults and children, someone who approaches their work with empathy, flexibility, and professionalism. The School Counselor is integral to the daily life and functioning of the school community. The position will serve children and families in our toddler through eighth grades and work collaboratively with a team of passionate educators. Candidates with successful counseling experience with a variety of ages are encouraged to apply.

    Salary commensurate with credentials and experience; benefits include ongoing professional development, health and dental insurance, paid time off, holidays and vacation time, and opportunities for career growth and advancement. Possible flexibility to be 4 days a week in-person.
    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Provide short-term counseling for students using a short-term, strengths-based, solution-focused model; assist with problem-solving regarding academic and social-emotional issues as they arise.
    • Facilitate student peer support and affinity groups as needed (e.g., groups that address the specific needs of students).
    • Develop and implement a time-limited, developmentally appropriate, and prevention-oriented social-emotional curriculum in collaboration with teachers.
    • Mediate conflict between students.
    • Assist teachers with SEL resources to support classroom engagement and relationship building.
    • Confer as needed with external health professionals serving students and act as the liaison between them and the School.
    • Provide timely and consistent communication with parents/caregivers, participate in parent meetings/communication as needed, and run parent education workshops as/when needed.
    • Provide families with referral information when needed, as indicated.
    • Observe and assess classroom practices for ways to improve the teaching of social competencies.
    • Provide consultation to and education around developmental and social-emotional issues for parents.
    • Provide consultation for families in a culturally responsive and aware manner.


    Administrative Responsibilities:
    • Create, track & continuously revise systems and structures that support student development & learning.
    • Create and implement professional development for faculty regarding developmental, social-emotional, and academic issues.
    • Create, revise, and review, in collaboration with the leadership team, school practices, protocols, and policies that enhance student health and safety.
    • Be available to represent the school at events outside of school day hours (e.g., curriculum nights, new parent events, admissions events, etc.).

    Qualification Requirements:
    • A Master's Degree in Counseling, School Counseling, Social Work, or a related field
    • Demonstrated ability to connect with students and use various counseling techniques specific to school counseling.
    • Appreciation for the value of all human relationships, family structures, and human temperaments
    • Skills in constructive communication and collaboration with staff and administrators
    • Ability to organize, plan and implement tasks independently
    • Familiarity/experience with the Montessori educational approach is a plus
  • Afternoon Teachers

    Harborlight seeks Teachers for our Upper School grades 4 through 8. 

    Teacher positions available to start ASAP. Part-time hours, with
    opportunities for career growth and full-time advancement. Montessori teacher training is available to candidates who are interested in pursuing professional studies.
     
    Priority will be given to candidates with qualifications including: 
    -Experience with this age group
    -MA EEC Teacher preferred
  • Substitute Teachers

    Harborlight seeks a substitute teacher who is willing to work across the grades and engage in all aspects of classroom duties: recess, routines, delivery of instruction, and restoring the classroom environment. The preferred candidate will have knowledge of child development, developmentally appropriate practices, cultural competency, and creative instructional strategies for teaching and learning in a student-centered environment. 
     
    Position available starting ASAP. Part-time/per diem schedule.  Professional advancement and Montessori training available.
     
    Priority will be given to candidates with qualifications including: 
                -21 years of age
    -Possesses culturally competent instruction and social/emotional learning practices
    -Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
    -MA EEC teacher qualifications a plus
  • Teachers, Children’s House

    Harborlight seeks Montessori Teachers for our Children's House level (PK-Kindergarten). Co-Teacher and Lead Teacher positions available.

    Harborlight in collaboration with Montessori Institute - New England (www.mi-ne.org) offers a career pathway in Montessori Professional Studies (Birth- 3 Years or 3 - 6 Years). This teacher residency program affords aspiring Montessori teachers the opportunity to earn their Montessori teaching credential with or without the Masters in Montessori Teaching.
