Dot Day is Celebrated at Harborlight

Dot Day, celebrated on September 15, is inspired by the beloved children's book "The Dot" by Peter H. Reynolds. It encourages creativity and self-expression, inviting people of all ages to make their mark—literally and figuratively. The day is all about embracing individuality, taking risks in art, and fostering a growth mindset.

The Dot Day lesson for our youngest students...
...aligns beautifully with Montessori's concept of cosmic education, which emphasizes the interconnectedness of all things and the importance of each individual’s contribution to the larger universe. In Montessori classrooms, cosmic education encourages children to see themselves as integral parts of a vast, interconnected web of life.

Both Dot Day and cosmic education highlight the importance of individual expression and creativity as pathways to understanding and engaging with the broader world. By encouraging children to make their mark, we empower them to contribute positively to society, reflecting the essence of both initiatives.

Dot Day serves as a reminder that everyone can contribute something unique to the world. So, grab a pen, a paintbrush, or even some dots, and join in the celebration of creativity!

And, connect the dots! www.thedotclub.org
