Middle School Goes to Thompson Island

Our Middle School curriculum provides opportunities for students to find connections between themselves and the community around them. These experiences include field trips, community service, and class trips. This week is the first overnight of the year at Thompson Island
While on the island, students engage in “challenges by choice”. Through a variety of outdoor activities such as climbing, swinging, and hiking they learn about teamwork and collaboration, problem-solving, self-awareness and integrity, social and environmental responsibility, and respect and compassion for others. Middle schoolers stay in dorms and take a ferry to and from the island. In the spring trimester, the Middle School revisits these themes during their overnight experience (dates and destination to be determined). Stay tuned as the students start to plan for their next adventure.
